What is Transloading

Transloading is a shipping term that refers to the unique process of transferring a shipment from one mode of transportation to another while en route to the ultimate destination.

1st Facility:

Shipment is loaded onto railcar.

2nd Method of Transit:

Transportation via Train.

2nd Transload Facility

Shipment is transferred from train to truck.

Destination:

Truck completes delivery to final destination.

Products that can be transloaded include:

Construction Materials: Lumber, Pipe, Rebar, Brick, Stone, Sheetrock, Heavy Machinery
Bulk Products: Salt, Plastics, Sand, Minerals, Grain, and Fly Ash
Household Items: Small Appliances, General Merchandise, Boxes

About Us

MTL is a rail to truck reloading/transload facility in the heart of Maryland, serving the high traffic areas of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, all the way into New England. Our prime location near major routes and highways, makes it easy for our customers to have items off loaded and delivered to the locations needed. Our facility has over five acres of yard to organize and store customer’s products, while managing customer’s inventories and logistics.
